Fort Verde State Historic Park in the town of Camp Verde, Arizona is a small park that attempts to preserve parts of the Apache Wars-era fort as it appeared in the 1880s. Experience life through the eyes of a frontier soldier at Fort Verde State Historic Park. The fort was a base for General Crook’s U.S. Army scouts and soldiers in the 1870s and 1880s. From 1865 – 1891, Camp Lincoln, Camp Verde and Fort Verde were home to officers, doctors, families, enlisted men, and scouts. The park is the best-preserved example of an Indian Wars period fort in Arizona.

Mission: The Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP) is available to long-time residents of northern Arizona, Downwinders. RESEP provides no cost medical screening exams to facilitate early detection and treatment of cancer and assists individuals that were affected by the fallout of the Nevada nuclear test sites during the 1950s and early 1960s. The program also provides free claims assistance to eligible individuals who are filing a RECA claim for compensation through the Department of Justice.

Mission: ACS is a service organization of the Adventist church giving free food and clothing to the families in Camp Verde, Lake Montezuma, and Rimrock for over 20 years. An average of 450 families or around 1300 individuals a week receive canned food and fresh produce. Each month approximately 4000 items of good used clothing is dispersed and some household items. The Food Plus Program distributes to qualified seniors a box of government food on the second Wednesday of each month. Those signed up for this service average 1311 people a month. Help is also available in local disasters with personal care items, some kitchen utensils, dishes, pots and pans and when available some bedding.

Tiny Paws Rescue of Central Arizona is comprised of fosters and trappers work diligently rescuing feral cats, each spayed or neutered, then releasing to their home colony. We rescue and place in foster-to-adopt to forever homes an average of 250 kittens a year including vet visits, spays or neuters and needed medications, in addition to food and cat litter.
